The saying goes that Mountain Goat hunting starts, where sheep hunting stops…and it’s true. Mountain Goats survive because of where they live, not necessarily because they are so wiley. Alaskan Mountain Goats are very affordable to hunt by comparison to hunting in Canada and for the most part the elevations are much lower as well. With our severe winters, our goats grow coats that are second to none and we kill B and C billies almost every year.
ALASKAN MOUNTAIN GOAT HUNTING OVERVIEW
DATES FOR MOUNTAIN GOAT HUNTING
Mountain goat hunting seasons start in Mid-September and go through November where we can hunt them on the beaches. Mountain goats move down as the snow loads push them down but because we are hunting near the coast in many of our hunting areas the snow doesn’t really start to accumulate until Mid October.
HUNTING MOUNTAIN GOAT WITH PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS
Now for the guy who wants a traditional backpack mountain goat hunt, we have that for you too. Many of these areas are flat out never hunted and mountain goats are dying of old age. Be prepared for a 9 of 10 physical hunt and you must be in top, top, condition to enjoy these hunts.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR MOUNTAIN GOAT HUNTS
We have several hunting areas for Mt. Goats in Alaska and one of the neatest parts about hunting with us is we are hunting at very low elevations overall. We are one of the only places you can hunt mountain goats and be in marginal physical condition. In fact, some of our areas we can land where the goats live, up top, and day hunt out of nice base camps. We have some of the best coats you will find anywhere, but due to our locations the elevations are very reasonable and usually topping out aground 3 – 4000 feet above sea level.
